Speech-Language Pathology Statewide Learning Series
Social Pragmatic Communication Treatment

Continuing education is a requirement for speech-language pathologists (SLPs).  The SLP must stay up to date on the latest in therapy and research. The Speech-Language Pathology Statewide Learning Series is designed to address current issues, best practices and intervention strategies for SLPs in the field.

Important Session Information:

Social pragmatic treatment that produces positive change often focuses on targeting specific areas of deficiency and fails to recognize the underlying reasons causing the deficiency. When treatment targets the causal factors, gains occur in a wide variety of observed social behaviors. Transference of learned behavior occurs more rapidly, and greater satisfaction in social settings results. Participants will learn how the interplay between the foundational skills of Theory of Mind, Central Coherence, Executive Function, and Emotional Intelligence together with psychodynamics create social deficits and how to treat accordingly to produce meaningful long-lasting positive change.
