Literacy Professional Development Grant
Using the Science of Reading to Help Struggling Learners, including Those With Dyslexia

Grant from Texas Reading Initiative for K-5 Literacy Conference/PD

Important Session Information:

This interactive presentation will be solidly grounded in well-established reading theory, will include many Science of Reading-powered activities, and will both review and build upon earlier professional development sessions (July and September, 2022). After a brief overview of how foundational reading arises in the brain, why reading difficulties can develop, and how science has always been a part of reading theory and instructional practices, the presenter will discuss and model classroom activities and strategies, with a special emphasis on orthography and building automatic word recognition.
