I Need a Break!! Self-regulation Strategies for Young Learners
Share
When our young children get upset or overwhelmed, they may communicate their emotions through hands-on behaviors, tantrums, or other maladaptive behaviors. Many times, children haven’t been directly taught how to “calm down” when they get angry, making it harder for adults to redirect them when they're escalated. This session will empower participants with tips and tools on teaching self-regulation strategies to young learners, including the do’s and don’ts of “cooling off” spots, incorporating mindfulness activities into daily routines, and the importance of modeling and teaching replacement behaviors.
