Team Toolbox! Tips, Tools, and Collaboration for Educators Supporting Students with Autism and Significant Cognitive Disabilities
Perfecting the Behavioral PLAAFP for students with Autism and Low Incidence Disabilities

Teaching students with significant autism and/or low incidence disabilities requires educators to wear many hats and be focused and intentional during daily instruction. This series of webinars are designed to provide teachers resources and time to build professional connections with colleagues who work directly with students who have been diagnosed with ASD, ID, or have significant academic and behavior support needs. Some of the topics addressed may include:

  • Classroom structure and organization
  • Visual supports and communication
  • Video modeling, social narratives, and mindfulness
  • Active learning methods
  • Literacy for students with AU/LID
  • Assistive technology devices
  • Challenges of virtual/blended learning for students with significant support needs

Important Session Information:

The behavior portion of the PLAAFP (present levels of academic achievement and functional performance) paints the picture of a student’s strengths, areas of need, and behaviors that are impeding classroom performance. Compare and contrast the good, the bad, and the “ugly” PLAAFP examples, and acquire techniques to perfect your PLAAFP statements with data-driven summaries that justify the consideration for an FBA and/or a BIP for a student’s plan. A well-written PLAAFP helps educators create well-written goals!
