Ukeru (the Japanese word for “receive”) is a restraint and seclusion-free crisis management method. It was developed out of necessity to create safe environments for both staff and students. This two-day training will include trauma-informed practices. Learn how to manage and de-escalate conflict by converting/diverting aggressive behaviors. Acquire a knowledge of how to build an environment focused on comfort rather than control. Participants will become proficient in using physical techniques, which include stances, releases, blocking, and redirection.
