Speech-Language Pathology Statewide Learning Series
Designing Effective & Ethical Intervention for Students Who Speak Languages in Addition to English




Continuing education is a requirement for speech-language pathologists (SLPs).  The SLP must stay up to date on the latest in therapy and research. The Speech-Language Pathology Statewide Learning Series is designed to address current issues, best practices and intervention strategies for SLPs in the field.

Presenter: Lisa Rukovena, M. S., CCC-SLP

Description: In this session, participants will discuss a range of intervention designs including in-direct, direct, and collaborative approaches to most appropriately serve students who speak languages in addition to English. Intervention design will take both disability and linguistic needs of students into account. The ARD/LPAC collaboration process will be reviewed. This session will satisfy the Ethics requirements for the Texas state license and for ASHA certification maintenance. This session will also satisfy ASHA’s DEI requirements for maintenance of certificate of clinical competence
