The wonderful thing about young children and their brains is that they are still growing and learning each and every day. As educators and parents work to build those young brains, they guide little ones as they learn how to control their impulses and feelings. These are just some of what are called executive functions, which impact both academic and behavioral growth in school and beyond.
Executive functioning skills, crucial for planning, focus, and self-regulation, develop rapidly in early childhood, starting around age 3, and continue to refine throughout adolescence. They also serve as the foundation for positive behaviors and allow individuals to make healthy choices for themselves and others. This session will provide educators of young children with practical strategies and visual supports to teach executive functioning skills and promote behavioral success across environments. Participants will leave with an electronic treasure chest of communication tools, choice boards, checklists, feelings charts, keychain rules, calming tools, and more that will serve as powerful bridges to a brighter future.
