Behavior: A Different Perspective
During this training, we will discuss research on the science behind human behavior and ways in which the basic need for safety, success, independence, and connectedness are impacted in individuals with sensory impairments. We will address how meeting these needs can positively impact behavior and lay the foundation for all development and learning. TSBVI’s Guidance for Planning Behavior Intervention for Children and Young Adults who are Deafblind or have Visual and Multiple Impairments will provide the framework for this training, although the material is not restricted to students with these specific complex needs. This session places strong emphasis on the relational dynamics between communicative partners (students and educators).
