This is a two-day training: Day 1 on October 7 and Day 2 on November 18.
This session introduces teachers to the Literature Discussion Based Question (DBQ) process, where students investigate a central question using excerpts from short stories, novels, plays, poems, and literary nonfiction. Participants will explore how DBQs deepen students’ engagement with literature while building analytical reading and writing skills. Teachers will leave with strategies to integrate literary DBQs into their ELA instruction, foster close reading and evidence-based interpretation, and better meet the needs of STAAR.
