Two Paths, One Student: Strategies for Supporting Autism and Down Syndrome

Autism and Down Syndrome can co-occur in ways that create unique strengths—and complex support needs—for students. While research suggests that 15–20% of individuals with Down Syndrome may also meet criteria for autism, this dual diagnosis is often underrecognized and misunderstood. In this one-hour webinar, we’ll explore what the research tells us about the co-occurrence of these two diagnoses, how autism may present differently in individuals with Down Syndrome, and practical strategies for supporting communication, behavior, and learning. Whether you're a teacher, specialist, or related service provider, you'll gain valuable insights to help you better understand and support students with both diagnoses
