Day 3: STAAR Success for Struggling Readers and Writers
Share
The STAAR reading language arts assessment can be difficult for students with disabilities and frustrating for educators. Traditional comprehension strategies often fall short when students struggle with fluent reading. This session introduces a practical approach to help students access and make meaning from text above their independent level by using designated supports and confidence-building strategies. Participants will also learn tools for guiding students to respond effectively to extended constructed response prompts with clarity and strategy. Walk away with approaches that reduce frustration, build resilience, and boost confidence on the test.
