Reading by Design 5-Day Training 25-26

This session is for certified teachers who are currently teaching in a public school district, private school or charter school. *Please see note below for more specific information.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of dyslexia intervention through a review of Texas dyslexia laws and current research, as well as best practices in dyslexia instruction. We will delve into evidence-based components of instruction and explore continuums for developing reading ability in students with dyslexia. Participants will learn how to deliver daily intervention utilizing Reading by Design, a multisensory, systematic, explicit, and intensive reading program designed for students with dyslexia.

Teachers attending these five days will receive the entire Reading by Design program with supplemental resources necessary for small group instruction.

Earning a certificate for this course requires participants to attend all five training dates, successfully complete all assignments on time, and pass a practicum model lesson in order to be able to implement RbD. Participants have a limited number of attempts to pass the practicum. Make-up days are not available, so please be sure you are able to attend all dates. Total hours = 30

Reading by Design Registration Information

Reading by Design is available to Region 16 public districts and charter school schools at a discounted price of $450. Because federal funding supplements the cost of training materials, we are able to offer this reduced rate and prioritize space exclusively for district-funded participants.

Registration Guidelines:

  • District-Funded Participants: To receive the $450 discounted rate and priority seating, participants must register using a district Purchase Order (PO) number.
  • Personally Funded and Non-Public Staff: Non-public district staff, as well as anyone paying with personal funds, are welcome to register if space is available. Please note: If you are paying out of pocket, you will be expected to pay the standard, non-discounted rate of $950 and will not receive priority seating. This applies even if you are currently employed by a Region 16 public district or charter school.
