Texas Adolescent Literacy Academy (TALA) Focus on Writing: Supporting Academic Writing & Promoting STAAR success




In this two-day turn around workshop for grades 5-9 Language Arts teachers will explore instructional approaches designed to assist middle school students as they become more analytical and purposeful writers. Training will include the following: reading as a writer; incorporating techniques learned from reading into one's own writing; developing thinking skills through writing; and teaching written conventions. Participants will have opportunities for hands-on practice of reading and writing strategies designed to promote student success on STAAR and in college and career. The session will also include access to online resources and tools available through Project Share.
