They say they’re reading, but they don’t seem to have any comprehension. Literacy skills are specific to each discipline! Learn ways to help your students make meaning from social studies materials they are reading. Help students develop writing skills to clarify thinking. Participants will practice ways to integrate primary documents, informational texts and literary non-fiction to utilize the literacy skills necessary to understand the concepts and ideas in social studies, making optimal use of instructional time. Participants will leave with strategies to help with reading comprehension and writing skills.
