Intro to the Gap Implementation Tool for Mathematics

Teachers and students will feel the impact of missing those final weeks of the 2019-2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For Math, this means missing new material for some grade levels and it means missing an opportunity to strengthen essential mathematical understandings at the end of the school year. In response, the TEKS Resource System Math team created a document that highlights skills and standards that students may not have fully mastered due to COVID-19. The Gap Analysis tool was designed to help teachers understand how Math concepts are vertical in nature, and how to best close possible gaps in student learning during the 2020-2021 school year. Notes included in the tool will guide teachers as they determine the present level of students' knowledge and understanding, and make instructional decisions based on SEs that may require additional instruction. Join us as we walk through the basics of the GAP tool and how to decipher it’s contents.
