Labor Market Data: Not Just for Economists Anymore




Are you ready to be the Counselor who talks to students about Labor Market data? Are you an Administrator trying to help schools determine which career pathways their campus should focus on? Are you interested in learning about which industries, occupations, and skills are in the most demand in your region? Then this workshop is right for you. In this session you will learn about the labor market trends in your area. You will also learn about the resources available through the Texas Workforce Commission so that you can collect the data you need to discuss with students no matter what occupations and industries they are interested in. The Texas Workforce Commission also has resources in print and staff that can help with career readiness. Learn how to take advantage of all of these tools at no cost to you or your school! Be sure to bring your own device to follow along and navigate through these tools. Session Goals: Learning Objective #1: Learn the labor market data for your region Learning Objective #2: Discover how to use TWC data tools to collect your own data in the future Learning Objective #3: Discover how you can apply this data to career advising sessions with students, in the classroom, or for programmatic decision making.
