Making it Click: Building Background Knowledge in Grades K-2
Share
Research shows that reading comprehension increases when students have background knowledge about a topic. This research is the basis for the inclusion of cross-curricular passages in the STAAR redesign, which includes K-2 science, math, and social studies topics.
In this session, we will explore ways to build background knowledge through cross-curricular instruction, while focusing on best practices. Participants will walk away with activities to use in their classroom as well as access to online resources that focus on building background knowledge.
Important Workshop Information:
For districts participating in the Instructional Support contract there will be no charge, the charge will be removed at checkout.
