Reimagine the Redesign: Secondary ELAR STAAR 2.0




In 2019, HB 3906 passed sweeping changes to the current format of the STAAR, including new question types, cross-curricular passages, the complexity of texts, and evidence-based writing. These changes will be implemented in the 2022-2023 school year. In this full-day session, we will look at the changes and how they more tightly align with the classroom experiences. We will identify supports as well as possible classroom implications for secondary ELAR classrooms. Participants will leave with strategies to help align best practices, including annotating, in ways that are rigorous to meet the demands of STAAR 2.0.
