Trainings: Session Detail

Growing Thinkers using Writing as a Tool Across the Curriculum (Grades 3-5)

Writing across the curriculum is not limited to Reading Language Arts. Let’s discuss simple strategies and instructional routines to promote metacognition using writing as a thinking tool in all content. Students should write for different purposes across all subject areas: science, math, and social studies. Writing across different subject areas helps to develop a purpose in writing while reinforcing learning. Integrating writing into content instruction develops deeper comprehension and higher-order thinking processes. Writing is challenging but empowers students to succeed in their learning. Let’s grow and create a culture of thinkers!
