From Frustration to Fascination: Encouraging Productive Struggle in Math Class




Productive struggle is one of the critical components of research-based strategies in mathematics. But how can teachers shift frustration to fascination in math class that leads to deeper mathematical understanding for students? This session will share practical ways to create a conducive learning environment for students to engage and thrive with productive struggle. The teacher's moves to promote and facilitate meaningful discourse that optimizes productive struggle will be addressed.
