Lunch with Lawyers sessions, which are offered by the Underwood Law Firm, P.C., are for members that subscribe to Region 18 Education Service Center Legal Services Cooperative. During these one-hour sessions, the Underwood Attorneys will cover a variety of relevant legal topics that are ideal for almost any professional employee, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, special education directors, principals, etc.

Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 12:00 pm, Region 18 ESC will welcome Attorney, Ronn P. Garcia, of the Underwood Law Firm, to provide a very timely and relevant session, "Hot Off the Press: Top Nine Hot Topics for 2018," as part of the "Lunch with Lawyers" series offered through ESC 18.  This session will include topics such as the following: (1) Updated/ Obsolete AIA Contracts; (2) Annual Fingerprint Certification and Statement of Compliance; (3) Failure to Train in School - Section 1983 Case; (4) Student Expression Case; (5) Student Terroristic Threat on the Increase; (6) Amendments to the Texas Educator Code of Conduct; (7) New FERPA Guidance School Videos; (8) New Commissioner Rules on Procedures for Refusal or Person Entry/Rejection; and (9) Continuing School Safety Matters. This session is ideal for superintendents, assistant superintendents, business managers, directors, principals, and assistant principals, educators, and other staff that may deal with any of these matters.
