Getting the Genre Gist in the New ELAR TEKS

Multiple genres are woven into every strand of the new ELAR TEKS. Students must understand the text structure of various genres in order to be able to analyze text effectively. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to support deep learning of genre specific text structure. They will learn and apply strategies for teaching comprehension both within the literary genres and nonfiction genres of literature for both reading and writing.
