Baby’s Day Out is an interactive, family-centered session designed for parents and caregivers of infants and young children who are blind or visually impaired and/or deaf or hard of hearing. This hands-on experience invites families to learn alongside their children through a variety of engaging sensory stations that reflect everyday experiences found in a child’s natural environment.
Parents will rotate through stations focused on touch, sound, movement, smell, and functional play, using common household items and routines. Specialists will model simple, practical strategies to help families understand how to intentionally introduce and adapt sensory experiences to support early learning, communication, and developmental growth at home and in the community.
In addition to the sensory activities, resource vendors and community partners will be available throughout the session. These vendors will provide information, materials, and guidance on services, supports, and tools available to families of children with visual impairment and deaf/hard of hearing needs.
Baby’s Day Out is designed to empower families by:
-
Building confidence in supporting sensory development through everyday routines
-
Strengthening parent-child interaction and engagement
-
Connecting families with local resources, services, and supports
-
Creating a welcoming space for families to learn, ask questions, and connect with others
This session celebrates learning through play, exploration, and meaningful family involvement—because everyday moments create the foundation for lifelong learning.
