Delving Deeper into the Six Syllable Types

In this workshop, you will view and practice modeled instruction of the six syllable patterns of English words, and learn how to guide applied practice with various multisensory activities. The instruction is designed to introduce the syllable patterns to students, and then embed multisensory practice within a word study block of an ELA (TEKS-based) curriculum with students. All teachers can enhance their vocabulary instruction of struggling readers once they are exposed to the knowledge of the six syllable patterns. Teachers who are English Language Learners may also find that knowledge of the six syllable patterns unlocks the mystery of how to pronounce, decode and spell English words.
