The Sciences of LITERACY for Teachers of Students who are Blind, Deafblind, or have Low Vision Virtual Book Study

TSBVI is excited to present The Sciences of Literacy for Teachers of Students who are Blind, Deafblind, or have Low Vision. This text is designed to ensure that teachers of students with visual impairments, teachers of students who are deafblind, educational interveners for learners who are deafblind, orientation and mobility specialists, and other educators who serve students who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision including those with complex access needs, are equipped with substantial literacy content knowledge and skills to meet each learner’s unique literacy needs. Emphasizing practical application, The Sciences of Literacy for Teachers of Students who are Blind, Deafblind, or have Low Vision highlights the necessity for all educators to view themselves as literacy teachers who model, teach, and embed literacy skills authentically and meaningfully across settings. This text provides a comprehensive look at the enhanced content knowledge and intentional, research-based instructional practices all teachers can use to provide the high-quality, individualized literacy experiences and instruction students need and deserve.
