Texas-Specific McKinney-Vento Laws: What Every Liaison Hero Needs to Know & Do
Share
This session focuses on Texas-specific laws and requirements under the McKinney-Vento Act that directly impact your role as a liaison hero. Participants will explore key provisions such as transition assistance under 19 TAC §89, enrollment across school systems, discipline considerations, and other state-level expectations that help protect and support students experiencing homelessness. Through real-world scenarios and guided discussion, participants will strengthen their “hero toolkit” by building a clear understanding of how these laws translate into daily practice. This session will provide practical guidance, compliance considerations, and actionable strategies to help liaison heroes remove barriers, respond with confidence, and ensure alignment with Texas requirements while supporting students and families experiencing homelessness.
