This session is tailored to participants who have not attended the Math RBIS previously. Day 1 and Day 2 are sequential. To receive 12 hours credit for attending participants must attend both days.
The 2026 Refined Mathematics Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) represent Texas Education Agency's updated framework for bridging the gap between research and classroom practice in mathematics instruction. Grounded in the science of learning and designed to support the effective implementation of high-quality instructional materials, the refined RBIS provide educators with a cohesive approach to developing mathematical proficiency for all learners.
The refined framework consists of five interconnected instructional priorities:
- Key Principles from the Science of Learning
- Depth and Coherence of Key Concepts and Procedures
- Conceptual Understanding, Procedural Fluency, and Automaticity
- Effective Explicit Instruction for Novice Learners
- Effective Practice for Mathematical Independence
