* G/T Book Study 6 Hour Update
*Follow the Signposts! Not Your Mother’s Book Study

Teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the district’s defined gifted/talented services receive a minimum of six (6) hours annually of professional development in gifted/talented education that is related to state teacher education standards (19 TAC §89.2(3) and TAC §233.1).

Important Session Information:

Join us as we “Notice and Note” the signposts for close reading strategies in Kylene Beers and Robert Probst’s book by the same name.  In this interactive book study journey, you will develop a deeper understanding of text to improve the reading experience of all our learners, and especially our gifted learners. These reading strategies can awaken associations that lead readers to a deeper more complex understanding of the text being read.  This study includes the book, an initial ½ day session at R3 and 3 follow up sessions via Zoom from your computer as well as a final cumulative classroom implementation project.  Participants must be present for all four sessions as well as implement in their classroom to get credit for the study. Again, this is not your mother’s book study!  This book study is interactive and will involve your classroom implementation of the components.
