Early Childhood Education - PD
Restorative Practices in Early Childhood

Early Childhood Trainings

Important Session Information:

Situations requiring discipline in our schools can, in fact, be opportunities for learning, growth, and community building.  For this to happen, we will need to move beyond viewing discipline as punishment, or even as problem solving to a more holistic perspective that sees all aspects of behavior as related.  The key goals of Restorative Discipline include understanding the harm and developing empathy for both the harmed and the harmer.  To listen and respond to the needs of the the person harmed and the person who harmed.  To encourage accountability and responsibility through personal reflection within a collaborative planning process and others.  Discipline then becomes a long-term process that hopefully leads our children to become responsible for their own behavior.  These practices developed by Dr. Gaye Lang, will be taught in this session and ways to lead our students to become respectful, and  responsible human beings.  You will receive 3 books with this training:  " The Little Book of Restorative Discipline for Schools", "Toddler Discipline for Every Age and Stage", and " The Little Book of Circle Processes".  Join us for a day of renewal and peace building.
