You asked for more, you got it. Dr. Ginger Gates and Dr. Gail Cheramie will continue the discussion on Manifestation Determination Reviews. The original session was held in October, and we had many requests for more training to continue the discussion. If you missed the first session, in October, you would still obtain valuable information during this follow-up session.
Determining whether a behavior is actually a manifestation of the student’s disability can be a very difficult endeavor! Attend this workshop to learn how to make legally compliant manifestation decisions in a systematic and data-based method.
We will begin with an overview of Federal and State legal mandates regarding MDRs. Myths and truths of MDR will be reviewed that will support efficient, effective and legally defensible practices.
The second part of the training will propose a framework for how to collect data and make data-based manifestation decisions. Case studies will be used to practice application of the process. In addition, MDR due process hearing decisions will be discussed with emphasis on trends and pitfalls. Useful documents will be provided to support implementation.
Intended Audience: Administrators, ARD Facilitators/Evaluation Personnel
