Special Education - PD
Navigating Multiple Sources of Data and Developmental Delay with Dr. Gail Cheramie

Special Education PD is open to educators of all roles serving the diverse needs of all students, unless otherwise specified in workshop description.

Important Session Information:

This workshop is designed to strengthen diagnostic precision in special education evaluations by increasing the likelihood of accurate classification decisions and ensuring confidence that all relevant factors contributing to low achievement have been thoroughly considered. Participants will learn how to efficiently integrate and analyze multiple sources of data—including formal assessments, progress monitoring, classroom performance, and background information—to support well-founded eligibility determinations, particularly in the area of Specific Learning Disability (SLD). In addition, the session will provide an in-depth look at Developmental Delay as a disability category in Texas, including eligibility considerations, appropriate use, and its role within the evaluation process for young children. Attendees will leave with practical strategies for distinguishing between disability and other contributing factors, improving data-based decision-making, and strengthening the overall quality and defensibility of their evaluations.
Registration ends at 12:00 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026
