Special Education - PD
Neonatal Assessment Visual European Grid (NAVEG) Training

Special Education PD is open to educators of all roles serving the diverse needs of all students, unless otherwise specified in workshop description.

Important Session Information:

Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is the most common visual impairment in developed countries. CVI is sometimes difficult to diagnose because it is a visual processing issue and is usually diagnosed by visual behaviors instead of an eye examination. Recently, a CVI screening tool has been developed for infants and young children called the Neonatal Assessment Vision European Grid (NAVEG). This screening tool consists of looking at ocular visual, motor visual, and perceptual visual components. If a certain score is reached it may be an indicator of CVI and the child should be seen by an eye care professional. This workshop is designed to provide participants with comprehensive training on administering the NAVEG screening. This one day training (offered either 9/28 or 9/29) includes foundational background information and theory, paired with guided, hands-on practice of each screening component to support confident and accurate implementation. *Prior experience or specialized knowledge of CVI is not required for this training.
