English Learners and Special Education




These sessions will address English Language Learners language challenges and how/when/if Special Education programs are considered for limited English proficient students.

Important Session Information:


English Language personnel are experts in their field. Special education personnel are experts in their field. When a student who is in both camps, it is often unclear who should do what and when. What does normal language acquisition look like and when should a student be considered for further evaluation? This session will look at specific requirements and current best practices for services to students who are (or may be) both English Learners and students in Special Education.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
