Foster Care 101 for Educators




This three-hour training will include:

  • a review of statistical data and legislation associated with foster care;
  • a closer look at how the education system and the Department of Family and Protective Services work collaboratively together to meet the needs of foster children;
  • responsibilities of the school district in identification and service;
  • the role of the District Foster Care Liaison; and 
  • other general resources you can access to be better informed for working with foster children.

Each participating district/co-op will receive a printed copy of TEA's Foster Care & Student Success guide.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
