ONLINE - Developing and Sustaining Foundational Language Skills in Elementary Classrooms - Grades K-5 - July 30 - August 7, 2020

This session will provide important information about the vertical alignment between the kindergarten through grade 5 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
Important Session Information:
Presented by Dr. Jennifer B. Schnakenberg from The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk -- Dr. Schnakenberg's background is in educational psychology with an emphasis on learning, cognition, instruction, and motivation. She has provided high-quality professional development and technical assistance at the national, state, district, and campus levels to build capacity and implementation of evidence-based and sustainable literacy practices. In this session, we will work to understand the research and critical connections between phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, and advanced word study for our students. In addition, participants will practice and apply this knowledge across the word-learning continuum. At the end of the day there will be time for a grades K-5 workstation make and take for phonological awareness and word study.
