If you successfully complete the Grade Two Mathematics Achievement Academy and will be teaching Second Grade Math next year or are currently teaching Second Grade Math you are invited to participate in the Mathematics Achievement Academy: Problem Solving and Discourse, Grade 2. This academy is designed to:

• connect problem solving experiences and discourse strategies to deepen the content experienced in the original Mathematics Achievement Academy, Grade 2;

• explore and apply the problem-solving model found in the TEKS as a tool to help students make sense of mathematics and to help the mathematics make sense to students; and

• explore and apply mathematical language routines to equip students to communicate their mathematical understanding with clarity.

The course has been modified to make it accessible for all during the school shutdowns.  We will be meeting in a Zoom session for our first meeting and the remainder of the course will be self paced.  No student work will be required during this version of the Blended Follow up.  You must have attended the original Grade 2 Academy to attend this course.  18 hours of CPE credit will be issued by TEA once ALL activities are completed, along with a $100 stipend.
