Family Engagement Series - Canvas Course - June 1 through August 16, 2020




The Family Engagement (FE) series seeks to empower educators to position FE as a priority for their districts, campuses, and classrooms through these objectives:  

  • Define the relationship between FE and improved student/school outcomes
  • Develop the disposition, knowledge, and skills to partner well with families and communities
  • Build capacity to transform and sustain school culture through system-wide FE
  • Review research and link directly to best practices for your local education agency
  • Learn, think, reflect, and practice before implementing ideas in your classroom, school, or district
  • Explore a variety of tools and resources to engage every family

This series serves general conceptual purposes for FE specialists in the areas of Title Programs, Special Education, Head Start & Pre-Kindergarten.


Important Session Information:


The Family Engagement Series consists of ten (10) modules embedded in one series to total twenty (20) hours. Modules include: 1) Fundamental Principles; 2) School Culture & Intentional Leadership; 3) The Dual Capacity Framework; 4) Building & Nurturing Relationships; 5) Respecting Cultural Differences; 6) Effective Two-Way Communication; 7) Empowering Families through Links to Learning; 8) Creating Parent Leaders & Community Impact; 9) Action Planning & Monitoring; and 10) Family-Friendly Resources.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
