Beyond Yes, No, & More: Comprehensive Next Steps for AAC Decision-Making (Face to Face)




This two-day intensive will empower your team at any stage of development and/or workings.  We will define aspects of assistive technology, review the law and federal/state stipulations, highlight best practices, outline process and framework, focus on a team approach, and propose next steps with updating your district's AT operating guidelines. 


Important Session Information:


Are you stuck at “Yes, No, and More” for your AAC Users? Do you know professionally that you have students who may need to be accessing AAC, but you are just not sure how to get started? Does the time commitment to the AAC process feel overwhelming? This is the session for YOU! Region 9 would like to invite district AAC representatives, special education teachers, speech language pathologists, paraprofessionals, administrators, occupational therapists and physical therapists to join this session as individuals, but ideally as a team. This will be a 2.5 day intensive course in comprehensive AAC decision-making. Content of this face to face course will walk participants through a multidisciplinary approach to evaluation, low-tech, mid-tech, high-tech decision-making, and implementation of best practices. Participants will be taught how to utilize an AAC rubric as a collective team as part of the course.   • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
