Multisensory Strategies to Help Build the Reading Brain, PreK-3

Brains are hardwired for spoken language but not for reading. How, then, do children learn to read? This training will provide an overview of how the reading brain works. Age-appropriate, brain-friendly strategies to support literacy acquisition will be shared.

Important Session Information:

Researchers have helped us better understand that the brain is not hardwired for reading. So how does the brain learn to read if that is the case? This workshop will help us develop our understanding of how the reading brain works in PreK-3rd Grade students. We will focus on how young children learn to decode print and go on to read with fluency and comprehension. Brain-friendly strategies, including those that are multisensory in nature, will be shared.
