LRE: Kids are Citizens, Too Pre K-3rd Grade ZOOM June1-Aug 16, 2021

Kids need to understand civics too! Join us as we explore hands-on activities and children's literature that will help teachers lay a foundation for teaching responsible citizenship and celebrating America's beliefs and principles. The institute will provide resources to address a) characteristics of good citizens b )community helpers c) symbols, customs, and celebrations that represent America's identity.

These concepts are explored through guided and shared reading/writing opportunities appropriate for kindergarten through 3rd grade students.

To support the teaching of the TEKS, a variety of of rich materials such as historical children's books, primary resources, poems, songs, and biographies are part of this professional learning. Explore lessons and strategies that support student success and enrich existing curriculum.

Participants receive access to all materials upon completion of the course.

This is a ZOOM session presented by Law-Related Education and is good for 6 hours of credit. YOU MUST REGISTER IN TWO PLACES TO BE ADMITTED TO THE WORKSHOP AND RECEIVE CREDIT FOR YOUR SESSION. FIRST, register through Region 9 for this Zoom session. SECOND, register through LRE via this link www.texaslre.org. LRE REGISTRATION BEGINS APRIL 19TH. REGISTRATION THROUGH REGION 9 DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SEAT WITH LRE. YOU MUST REGISTER THROUGH THEM ON APRIL 19TH AND THEY FILL UP QUICKLY. SET A REMINDER ON YOUR CALENDAR TO LOG ON TO LRE'S SITE ON APRIL 19TH! You will meet for two, two-hour LIVE sessions and complete asynchronistic components of the course. You must attend the LIVE sessions to receive credit. REMEMBER, YOU MUST REGISTER THROUGH LRE in addition to your Region 9 ESC registration.
