Children's Books: Literature that Saves Lives ZOOM June 11, 2021




This session is designed to support Social Studies educators. The session will be delivered through Canvas and Zoom.

Important Session Information:


This session will be delivered by Driving on the Right Side of the Road (DRSR) via ZOOM. Link and materials to be sent out prior to the session. The Texas Municipal Courts Education Center and Texas Law-Related Education/State Bar of Texas have created a series of children’s books that incorporate Texas traffic safety into stories that are colorful and engaging. DRSR teacher-consultants have created TEKS correlated lessons that pair with each of the books. Lessons are available for upper and lower elementary. All teachers attending this session will receive, free of charge, books for each of their students and lessons for use in the classroom. Books are available in English, Spanish, and teacher edition “Big Books” that have English and Spanish side by side. Teachers will also receive lessons concerning community workers that scaffold onto the SB30 Community Safety Act lesson mandated by TEA for high school.
