SPED Talk Tuesday: ONLINE ZOOM (June 7,2022)-Unlocking Core 10:00-11:00

Important Session Information:

SPED Talk Tuesday will cover various topics related to SPED. We will share resources and best practices throughout our presentations. Unlocking Core: The ability to communicate is foundational for all aspects of life and learning. Yet sadly, not all students have accessible systems to express their basic requests or what they know. If as educators we’re overlooking this need, we’re withholding one of the most powerful tools to ensure student success. Curious to know a strategy that can help move students forward? This 1-hour session will provide a high-level overview of Core Vocabulary - an approach designed for students with significant disabilities who do not yet use speech, signs, or symbols to communicate in flexible ways. This low-tech, augmentative and alternative communication strategy uses a limited set of highly versatile words to improve academic and functional engagement. Come learn how this tool can be transformational for you when teaching and your students in learning.
