Deciphering the Dyslexia Evaluation Toolbox for Diagnosticians (P.M.)




Special Education Evaluation Sessions are designed to provide professional development opportunities to evaluation staff such as Diagnosticians, LSSPs, and Speech Personnel.

Important Session Information:


There is often confusion about the exact components of identifying dyslexia in a reading evaluation. During this session, participants will decipher the key components of the Texas Dyslexia Handbook to increase their awareness of critical components to include for dyslexia evaluations. Participants will acquire knowledge and skills in the overall process for assessing dyslexia, including selection of instruments (CTOPP-2, OWLS-II, TOWRE-2, GORT-5, and TOSWRF2) as key features and interpretation guidelines for each of the assessments will be addressed. Resources that districts can use to identify critical components in both monolingual and bilingual dyslexia evaluations will be shared.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
