The Making Sense of the Federal Budget, Debt and Deficits program uses a non-biased approach designed to provide teachers with a dynamic way to incorporate economic concepts into their classroom. The program incorporates a variety of social studies, civics and political science concepts in both the presentations and simulations. Please note that this program will be presented in a non-biased, nonpolitical manner and the instruction will be in understandable terminology, not mathematics.
Key topics / concepts include the budget process,
federal budget composition,
autonomous and discretionary spending, alternative ways to finance deficits, the role of government debt, types and ownership of government debt, and implications of debt expansion.
