A Spectrum of Success: Evidence-Based Practices for Students on the Autism Spectrum

This session will cover topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Important Session Information:

If you've met one kid with autism, you've met ONE kid with autism! Educators may work with a variety, or "spectrum" of levels of autism-identified students. In this session, participants will identify various components of autism as they relate to social, communication, and behavioral challenges and apply what they learn to the individualization of student accommodations in the classroom. Learn the connection between executive functioning in the brain and the needs of students with autism, and how understanding these deficits can change your teaching styles to maximize student potential. Compare and contrast different research-based methods to support these diverse learners, and incorporate inclusive best-practices. Gain tons of classroom ideas, visual supports, social skills lessons, and other take-aways you can implement the next day!
