Boosting Academic Success for Emergent Bilinguals




Sheltered Instruction is an instructional approach used to make academic instruction in English understandable to English learners. Participants will explore various strategies to help English learners achieve academic success.

Important Session Information:


Sheltered Instruction is a strategic way that enables the classroom teacher to differentiate and support emergent bilinguals effectively in order for academic gains to occur. This session will take participants through elements of strategic instruction for emergent bilinguals. Participants will also gain knowledge of how sheltered instruction will boost academic success for emergent bilinguals by gaining access to content, while developing acquisition of the English language.
