Making the Shift in Your K-2 RLA Classroom to the Science of Reading

The current emphasis on the body of research known as the "Science of Reading" has raised challenging questions for balanced literacy teachers about the best way to teach reading.

Important Session Information:

Based on "Shifting the Balance" by Dr. Jan Burkins and Kari Yates, we will explore six simple and research-based scientifically sound shifts to transform your K-2 classroom into a science of reading literacy environment. Participants will gain clarity as they learn how each shift, although distinct and important on its own, connect to and build on each other, making their collective impact even more promising for our students.

T-TESS/T-PESS:
Dimension 1.3: Knowledge of Students, Dimension 2.1: Achieving Expectations, Dimension 2.2: Content Knowledge and Expertise, Dimension 2.5: Monitor and Adjust
