Aligning the STAARs in Writing for K-2




Writing plays a significant role in building strategic reading skills: literacy knowledge, vocabulary, and more, all of which can be taught through explicit, effective daily writing instruction.

Important Session Information:


Writing is a complex task that balances purpose, audience, ideas, and organization with the mechanics of writing (sentence structure, word choice, spelling). This session will focus on supporting the K-2 learners with ways to connect their writing to the texts they are listening to and reading to create a piece of writing that flows together.
