Two Roads Merged: Connecting Social Studies and ELAR for Students (F2F) (June 19th, 2023 9AM-4PM) (3rd-12th ELAR & SS)




This session supports ELAR and Social Studies teachers grades 3-12.

Important Session Information:


All teachers want success for their students. How do we best support our students to become well rounded, articulate, informed citizens? Participants will reroute divergent roads to merge social studies with ELAR through construction of content literacy. The ever changing landscape of diversity and adversity can become a route for civil discourse via developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, reading. This session will focus on supporting 3-12 learners with paths to deepen their comprehension of everything they read and listen to with a focus on informational and argumentative texts and social studies. Furthermore, teachers will be equipped with methods to cultivate writing and speaking skills in both disciplines. Let’s travel this highway together; by combining forces we can compound student growth.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
