Complex Access Needs Book Study: The Highly Effective (CAN) Teacher - CANVAS ONLINE June 26 - July 21, 2023




These online sessions are designed for teachers and paras who work with students who have significant cognitive disabilities.

Important Session Information:


This book focuses on 7 classroom-tested practices that foster student success. While it is not written explicitly for teachers of students with Complex Access Needs (significant cognitive disabilities), we will approach the seven constructs and paired best practices to support and measure effective teaching for this population of students. TX CAN’s Rubric of Effective Practices will also be embedded in the online discussions for this purpose. Participants will read each chapter, assign scores on the Teacher Intentionality Practice Scale (TIPS), and then engage in the discussion prompts, all with the focus to increase teacher proficiency and success for all students, in every classroom. > > > All learning is asynchronous. Partial credit is not available.
